While escaping the humid weather in Singapore or other parts of Malaysia to the highlands for a cooling temperature such as Genting or Cameron, no visit to Cameron Highlands is complete without going to any Tea Plantations for either its scenery, fresh cuppa tea and cakes. Or to find your inspirations maybe? It’s my first time to Sungei Palas BOH Tea Centre at 39100 Brinchang, Cameron Highlands and I am loving the greens and smell of Tea!
You can read more about the history of Sungei Palas Boh Tea Centre here. The drive up from the main road to BOH Tea visitors parking is about 2km drive uphill around the Tea Plantations. This place is open from 9:00am to 4:30pm daily except Monday. If you are driving on your own for the first time, PLEASE DRIVE SLOW as the road is narrow and there’s only 1 lane each for both ways and there are sharp turns everywhere. Sometimes, you might even have to give way to the oncoming cars due to limited road space.
As you get near to the carpark, you can see mini shops on the right side followed by a Hindu Temple, Sungei Palas Estate Occupational Safety & Health Clinic and a beautiful blue house on a hill. The carpark is free but note the signboard that says, ‘Park at owner’s risk’.
The Tea Centre is about 200m from the carpark where you’ll get a chance to walk through the tea bush, giving you a chance to snap as much awesome pictures as memories. From the bottom hill where you start, you can see the BOH Tea Ria refreshment Cafe at the top and the green view of the Tea Plantations. There is no entrance fee to this place, making it the most affordable attractions for your Cameron Trip.
We had fun using up our memory stick with our selfie photos, wefie, group pictures and sceneries. It’s refreshing. The place is so lovely that it brought a smile on my face with every steps I take. I am in love with the photos below taken by my dearest mum, with my directions and tips on how I want it to be. I truly adore the white long sleeve top which I bought at Padini from Komtar JBCC for mum, sis and myself. Look at how it glows on me like I’m an Angel. =)
There is a room for visitors to sit and watch the screen as it explain all about Tea. Here, you can learn the process of how teas are made at the Tea Factory and view all the machines used during the process. I’ll leave that for you to find out yourself yeah. Sadly, on that day, there are no tea processing due to Public Holiday. However, factory viewing is available. There are also free guided factory tour for all visitors and the timing is as per below.
We did our own tour and after that we went to the souvenir shop to shop for.. TEAS! As a tea lover, I bought many different kinds of teas to bring back home and souvenirs for my love ones. There are a wide variety of teas for you to choose from and let me tell you, the smell is super enchanting. We then proceed to the Cafe to enjoy a cup of freshly warm tea with cakes while appreciating the views. We ordered many different kinds of Tea to share and taste each. My favourite take? It has to be the original BOH Tea, caramel and vanilla tea.
The cafe was packed with visitors from all ages who keep looking out with such a fondness for the greens in them. We walked to the end of the cafe to have a panoramic view of BOH Tea Centre and here’s my favourite photo. Oh, can you see the bee? It wants to be in my photo too! How sweet! We had an awesome time viewing such a magnificent landscape of the Tea Plantation while taking in the cool breeze that sends a great vibe in our soul.
